Dream Orbs in Sonic Dream Team: How Unlocks Really Work
Dream Orbs unlock heroes and story in Sonic Dream Team. Here is how to earn them fast.

What Dream Orbs do
Dream Orbs are the unlock currency of Sonic Dream Team. Finishing missions earns them, and spending them, in effect, unlocks new heroes and new parts of the story. They are earned by playing, never bought, since the official game has no purchases inside it.
Think of Dream Orbs as progress markers: each orb means a mission cleared, a route found, or a challenge beaten. The more you explore, the faster they arrive.
Fastest ways to earn them
Clear story missions first, since they pay the most orbs per minute. Then replay levels with different heroes, because a flying hero reaches orb missions a speed hero cannot, and a climbing hero reaches walls no one else can.
Time missions and orb hunts are the best repeatable sources. Learn one level well, then farm its missions with the hero that suits each one instead of forcing one hero through everything.
What to unlock first
Unlock Tails or Cream early for flight, since flight opens the most new routes. Then unlock Knuckles for climbing, and save the rest for heroes whose style you enjoy most. There is no wrong order, but flight first gives the biggest map advantage. Related reading: Sonic Dream Team on Android: The Honest Status Right Now.
Shadow arrives through updates rather than the base orb path, so do not spend orbs hunting for him in the early game. Play the story, collect orbs, and the roster fills in naturally.
Common mistakes
The biggest mistake is rushing only the goal and ignoring side missions, which is where most orbs hide. Slow down, check side paths, and replay with a different hero before declaring a level finished. Related reading: Sonic Dream Team Beginner Tips: Your First Ten Runs.
